LG / REFRIGERATOR
CF— Condenser Fan Error
01 — What it means
The condenser fan at the bottom of the fridge is not running or is obstructed. The compressor is working but cannot shed heat, so the fridge warms up while running harder and hotter than normal.
02 — Most common causes
- Dust and pet hair clogging the condenser fan and coils underneath the fridge
- A failed condenser fan motor after years of humid Florida run time
- A foreign object (toy, food packaging) jammed against the fan blade
03 — Check it yourself (safe steps)
- 1Unplug the fridge and pull it away from the wall.
- 2Remove the rear bottom access panel with a screwdriver and vacuum the condenser coils and fan area thoroughly.
- 3Visually inspect the fan blade for dust buildup — clean with a soft brush, never with water.
- 4Reassemble the panel, plug in, and monitor — if CF returns, the fan motor itself has failed.
