LG / WASHER
UE / uE— Unbalanced Load
01 — What it means
The washer cannot balance the load for spin. LG's Direct Drive motor is unusually sensitive to imbalance — it will attempt several rebalance cycles before giving up and displaying UE. Lowercase uE is a warning that usually clears itself; uppercase UE means the cycle has stopped.
02 — Most common causes
- A single heavy item (comforter, bath mat, work jeans) pressed against one side of the drum
- Overloading on bulky cycles — LG drums look deep but have strict max-weight limits
- Worn shock absorbers under the tub assembly (after 6 to 8 years of use)
03 — Check it yourself (safe steps)
- 1Pause the cycle, open the door, and redistribute laundry evenly around the drum.
- 2If washing a single heavy item, add 2-3 towels to balance the load.
- 3Close the door and run a spin-only cycle to see if UE clears.
- 4Verify the washer is level — adjust the front feet with a wrench until stable.
When to call us
If UE appears on normal mixed loads that are properly distributed and the washer is level, the shock absorbers are due for replacement. Our certified LG technicians carry shock kits for all WM and WT models — same-day service across Palm Beach County.
